Biochemie

Topics and focal points

  • In our laboratory, we use cells with an artificially expanded genetic code to produce proteins with new properties. In particular, we are interested in a family of enzymes known as sirtuins, which play a central role in a variety of cellular processes. We are using our methods to develop new analytical procedures to understand the function and regulation of these enzymes.

Equipment

  • The laboratory of the Biochemistry Department is equipped with modern devices for the production (in bacteria and mammalian cells), purification and analysis of proteins. It also has standard equipment for molecular biology work.
